About

Who I Am

Hello! I'm Sara, a frontend engineer who cares deeply about the intersection of technology, design, and user experience. I enjoy building products that are not only visually refined, but also resilient, scalable, and easy to evolve over time.

My work spans modern web applications, performance optimization, and frontend architecture. Whether shaping a new feature or improving an existing system, I focus on creating experiences that feel intuitive for users and sustainable for the teams that build and maintain them.

Experience

Coalition, Inc.

Frontend Engineer

November 2021 – Present

San Francisco, CA

Building and improving broker-facing web experiences with a focus on frontend architecture, performance, reliability, and scalable product workflows.

  • Implemented AI-powered investigation workflows that transformed Datadog and Sentry telemetry into actionable insights, accelerating root-cause analysis, surfacing remediation recommendations, and automating pull request generation.
  • Optimized CI workflows by analyzing GitHub Actions Insights, removing redundant jobs, adding caching, and introducing test parallelization—reducing build time and flakiness by 35–40%.
  • Improved broker dashboard performance through code-splitting, lazy loading, Lighthouse audits, and Chrome Performance Profiling—reducing load time by 30%.
  • Contributed to the Broker Platform rewrite using TypeScript, React, Tanstack Query, Zustand, React Hook Form, MUI, Jest, and Cypress, improving scalability, maintainability, and the quote creation experience.
  • Designed a bulk quoting system with CSV-driven quote creation, batch orchestration, two-phase processing, batch-level aborts, and asynchronous polling—reducing redundant API calls by 80% and cutting quote completion time by 45%.

Software Engineer

July 2020 – November 2021

Oakland, CA

Worked on a cloud-based legal practice management platform, building product features, integrations, and frontend improvements for law firm workflows.

  • Maintained and enhanced a cloud application using PHP, CakePHP, PHPUnit, JavaScript, React, Redux, Saga, and Material UI.
  • Built product features and third-party integrations for subscription management, court rules-based calendaring, custom fields, and online payments.
  • Developed the migration from a legacy Vanilla JavaScript codebase to React, improving maintainability and frontend consistency.
  • Built a customer data migration tool to import historical law firm data and support smoother onboarding for new customers.

Developed frontend applications, microservices, and data pipeline improvements for lab management, order management, and shipping systems.

  • Maintained and developed microservices and frontend applications using .NET Core, Node.js, Angular, AngularJS, RabbitMQ, and MongoDB.
  • Supported internal lab management, order management, and order shipping workflows across enterprise applications.
  • Migrated legacy ETL processes from Pentaho by building and enhancing Python-based AWS Lambda functions.
  • Integrated data from internal REST APIs into AWS data stores including S3, Redshift, and RDS through preprocessing and transformation pipelines.

Bulk Quoting System

Designed and implemented a CSV-driven bulk quoting workflow with batch orchestration, asynchronous processing, and resilient failure handling.

feat(quoting): support bulk quote

Reduced redundant API calls by 80% and decreased average quote completion time by 45%, enabling faster and more reliable quote generation for brokers.

Beyond Engineering

More than code.

Event Planning

Event Planning

Alongside my engineering work, I run Maison Auro, where I design and plan events from concept to execution. The experience has strengthened skills that directly influence my work as an engineer: attention to detail, strategic planning, and creating seamless experiences for people.

Playing Music

Playing Music

Music has been an important part of my life for over 10 years. I play the santur, a traditional Persian instrument. Learning and practicing it has taught me discipline, patience, and the value of continuous improvement. Much like engineering, music is an iterative process that rewards focus, creativity, and attention to detail, making it a meaningful outlet for both expression and personal growth.

Painting

Painting

I enjoy painting with watercolor, colored pencils, and markers, mostly as an excuse to make a mess and experiment. What starts as a rough sketch often ends up somewhere completely different, and I enjoy that freedom. It's one of the few activities where I don't try to optimize the outcome, which makes it a refreshing complement to the structured problem-solving I do in engineering.
